Coconut trees are found across much of the tropical and sub-tropical areas in the world. A coconut is the largest known seed found in the plant world. Once a coconut falls from the tree, it takes about three years for the coconut seed to take root and sprout into a young tree. The origins of the coconuts have been lost to history. The scientists believe it originated from the Indian Archipelago or Polynesia. In addition to oil, other useful products derived from the coconut tree include toddy, coconut sugar, coconut water, coconut wood, palm cabbage, and other construction materials.
